Craig D. Tifford Fact Sheet

Craig D. Tifford, MD, and his wife Gail established the Craig D. Tifford Foundation in 2002 after Craig’s successful eight month battle with advanced metastatic testicular cancer. The foundation was created to fund research, provide financial and emotional support for patients and their families during and after cancer care, and establish patient education and public awareness programs.

Research & Funding

The Craig D. Tifford Foundation has donated over $650,000 to the following research centers:

• Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC)
  The Craig D. Tifford Foundation is the largest single donor to MSKCC for testicular
  cancer research.
• Bennett Cancer Center (BCC) at Stamford Hospital, Stamford, Connecticut
  The Craig D. Tifford Foundation funds are earmarked for testicular cancer research.

Living Grants

The Craig D. Tifford Foundation has donated nearly $100,000 in Living Grants to patients and their
families going through the emotional and physical stress of treatment. The Living Grants are utilized
for non-medical, treatment related expenses such as rent and transportation. These donations are
prohibited for use for medical treatment expenses.

"I received your generous donation in my name and want to thank you with deepest
sincerity,” writes one patient. “It is hard paying bills when you are out of work and
undergoing chemo. That is why I had to thank you for such a wonderful donation.”

"I greatly appreciate your generosity in these tough economic times. With your grant
my wife and I are able to keep the hopes of having children in the future.”

In Appreciation: The Orchid of Life Award

The Orchid of Life Award is granted annually to an individual or group of individuals who
demonstrate a remarkable commitment to the mission of the Craig D. Tifford Foundation. Last year
the foundation honored Matt Higgins, Executive Vice President of Business Operations, New York
Jets. Past honorees include Doug Ulman, President/CEO of the Lance Armstrong Foundation;
Nora Love, Suzanne Sweeney, and Patty Fischer, who accepted their award on behalf of all nurses
at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) for their never ending dedication to patients
and their families; Dr. Renzo Canetta, vice president, oncology global clinical research at Bristol-
Myers-Squibb; Andrea Kimerling, co-founder of the Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation;
Dr. Joel Sheinfeld Deputy Chief, Urology Service, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and
MSKCC researcher Dr. Robert Motzer.
